Rav Ovadia Yosef on Sheitels

Rav Ovadia informs us that there is no halachic legitimacy to wearing sheitels, and that it is actually a great sin.

The Ashkenaz stance remains that Sheitlach are permitted as the case of “Ervah” with hair is a spiritual one and not a physical one.

Still, it’s weak as a Sheitel in many cases makes a woman look even MORE attractive than without.

Yeshiva Guy Says Over a Vort – XtraNormal

One possible answer to this: The Sefer Torah has always existed, but with different “Tsuros” (e.g. Bereishis = Bara Shis (He created in 6 days)). In other words, the letters existed, but the spacings were different hence different words and sentences.

The Torah was supposedly “re-spaced” by Moshe Rabbeinu so that we could derive benefit from it to this day.

Abarbanel and His Making Funny Faces

This story was told to me a number of years ago by the Hornosteipler Rebbe, R’ Twerski of Ateres Shloime, who in turn was told about this from Chachmei Sefarad:

Don Isaac Abarbanel was perhaps one of the foremost Torah Scholars of all Jewry, let alone Sephardi. A story is told about him when he was about to give Shiur. Don Abarbanel had throngs of Talmidim, and would give a daily Shiur. However, prior to each Shiur, he would enter his quarters for a few minutes no matter what before re-emerging. While many wondered what he was doing behind closed doors, one had the Chutzpah to try and find out.

This Talmid (student) entered the Rav’s quarters shortly before the Rav himself did, and hid in an adjoining closet, keeping the door ajar. Once the Rav entered his quarters, the Talmid peeked out to see what was going on. What he saw shocked him. The Don, Isaac Abarbanel looked in a mirror and made all sorts of funny faces at himself! The spying Talmid was shocked beyond belief. How could the Rav be doing this, and how could he himself have even thought of spying on his Rebbi?
