In Parashas Balak we read about Bilaam hitting his donkey three times after the donkey refused to budge three times. After Bilaam hit the donkey three times it magically spoke to Bilaam. Bilaam in return spoke back, without being the slightest bit surprised.
It’s interesting how this Parasha comes in contrast with the previous Parasha, Chukas, where Moshe hit the rock. It’s said that Moshe and Bilaam were on the same level of spiritual greatness, though each ones greatness came through different sources of power. One hit out of impatience and one hit out of impatience. See the similarities?
I leave it at that.
