NASA recently did something unique in that they funded a 3D Pizza Printer for use in outer space. This is a very cool way to eat glorified cereal/pizza that has a shelf life of up to 30 years. Now that the oohs and aahs have been made, here’s the million-dollar question: how kosher is it?
The following questions I have are:
1. What needs to be done to give the edible powder a hechsher?
2. How exactly does one Tovel (ritually immerse in water) a 3D printer? Won’t the electrical device itself short when in contact with water? What parts can be Toveled and which cannot?
3. In the event that someone puts non-kosher powder in the 3D printer, what needs to be done to re-Kasher it?
